2nd June 2026

Cheslyn Hay Academy is celebrating a highly positive Ofsted report that praises the school’s deep commitment to its community and the high quality of its Post-16 provision.

Inspected under Ofsted’s rigorous new ‘School Report Card’ framework, the academy successfully met the demanding national benchmarks to secure the Expected standard across key areas including Achievement, Curriculum and teaching, Attendance and behaviour, Inclusion, Personal development, and Leadership and governance . Safeguarding standards were strictly evaluated and confirmed as Met.

Notably, the school’s Sixth Form achieved the higher Strong standard, indicating practice that is well above the expected national benchmark .

Inspectors were highly complimentary of the school's culture, noting that Cheslyn Hay is a "highly inclusive and aspirational school" where the core ethos of "‘be here, be great, be you’ is exemplified by pupils and staff as soon as you arrive".

Key highlights from the School Report Card include:

  • Post 16 Provision: Judged at the Strong standard . Inspectors noted that students are "integral to the wider community" and "leave the post-16 provision well prepared for their next steps, with a clear sense of direction and the skills to thrive".

The transition to the new School Report Card framework sets an incredibly high bar for schools nationally, and to meet these rigorous standards is a testament to the hard work of our entire staff and student community. I am particularly thrilled that inspectors recognised our high aspirations for students and 'be here, be great, be you' ethos and the exceptional strength of our Sixth Form.I am also incredibly proud that our civic duty was highlighted, with inspectors noting that 'leaders feel morally bound to serve their community and have a positive impact on the lives of the pupils in their care.
