NPQ for Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD)

The NPQ in Leading Teacher Development is designed for aspiring or current leaders of professional development, including training and mentoring of trainees or Early Career Teachers.

NPQs at the National Institute of Teaching are school-led: our organisation was founded by four leading Multi-Academy Trusts, and our programmes are designed and delivered with a focus on the realities of schools. Because teachers’ time is precious, our programmes are respectful of your time, and designed to have immediate impact on the pupils and colleagues in your school, as well as the colleagues and children you will work with in the future.

National Institute of Teaching (NIoT)

Programmes with our lead provider, NIoT, are designed by teachers and leaders in collaboration with schools across the country, ensuring our findings benefit all schools, teachers and leaders.

When does the programme start?

November 2026

Funding

For the November 2026 cohort, there will be full scholarship funding for the following NPQs:

  • Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (SENCOs)
  • Senior Leadership
  • Headship

NPQ scholarship funding will also be available for settings with high levels of disadvantage:

  • Leading Teaching
  • Leading Behaviour and Culture
  • Leading Literacy
  • Leading Primary Mathematics
  • Executive Leadership
  • Leading Teacher Development
